Under the able coaching of Miss M Huffman, the girls Senior Basketball team again enjoyed a successful season.
The girls' Motto, 'If at first you don't succeed - try, try again,' was certainly evident this year. At the end of the regular games Port Hope was in third place having lost to Adam Scott and PCVS. Port Hope then travelled to PCVS and became Kawartha District Champions by winning a close and exciting game with the score of 30-24. On March 13, we journeyed to Donevan Collegiate in Oshawa to compete for the COSSA championship. Thanks to the skilful shooting of the forwards and the determination of the guards Port Hope won the title of 1965 COSSA. Before going to COSSA the Senior Team played two exhibition games with R H King Collegiate in Scarborough and came out on top in both games, the scores being 45-23 and 36-12. Our girls are to be commended not only on their fine playing, but also on the good sportsmanship and their friendliness towards the other teams, for it is these ingredients which make the game much more enjoyable for everyone. To Miss Huffman the team gives their sincere appreciation. |
