A by-law granting a 30-year franchise to the Seymour Electric Power Company has been granted.

Mr. Thomas Garnett has accepted the contact to build the substation for the Seymour Electric Light and Power Company. The building will be 41' x 33', constructed of concrete, brick and steel and will be situaed on Cavan Street on the lot just south of Mr James Sinnott's residence. The company's engineer is expected in town to-day and work on the new building will commence at once. It is to be completed by May 15th.

Seymour Power Line to Ideal Factory Approved.

Mr. Ward presented a plan of the proposed route of the Seymour Power Company line to the Standard Ideal Factory. Commencing at the north end of Cavan street the Company would use the Bell Telephone line to Barrett street. They would then cross John Curtis' property, run along south of A. Lent's residence to Mill street, and follow the west side of that street to the Royal Hotel. From the Royal Hotel to the Base Line the Bell Telephone Line would again be used. They would continue along Mill, over Peter and down Queen to the factory. Moved by Mr. Patterson, seconded by Mr. Beggs, that the route of the transmission line of the Seymour Power & Electric Company, Ltd., from its substation to the lakefront as shown on the plan, be and the same is hereby approved  and the Council appoint Mr. R. G. Russell to supervise the erection of the poles on this route. Carried.,
Moved by Mr Patterson, seconded by Mr R G Russell, that His Worship the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to sign and affix the corporate seal of this corporation to a deed to the Port Hope Electric Light and Power Co. of the land agreed by this corporation to be conveyed to said company in exchange for the land required for new Electric Light Bridge location. Carried.

Deal Completed This Afternoon. Mr. Tuer is Local Manager.
The Seymour Power Co. have purchased the plant of the Port Hope Electric Light and Power Co. and took possession this afternoon. Mr. Thomas Tuer has been appointed local manager of the new Company and the staff formerly employed by Dr. Corbett will be retained by the new company.

Seymour generating station located 6Km north of Cambellford, was built by the Seymour Power and Electric Company and was placed into service on Dec. 4, 1909. In 1916, the station was acquired by the Hydroelectric Power Commission of Ontario, which later became Ontario Hydro. It was then transferred to Ontario Power Generation in 1999.
