Town of Port Hope Directory 1948

In using this directory, it should be noted that numbers run north and south from Walton Street and Ward Street and east and west from the Ganaraska River. The Board of Trade would suggest that the people of Port Hope see that the numbers of their houses are clearly shown on the front of the buildings in prominent positions.
While every effort has been made to ensure accuracy, and Voters' Lists followed and checked repeatedly, it is possible that errors have occurred. Will any person noting errors or omissions please report same to the Board of Trade office on Walton Street so that corrections may be made in future editions? It is the intention of the Board of Trade to issue revisions periodically, and with this in mind it is vital that we be informed of all changes of address. The Board of Trade wish to thank any who have assisted in corrections in this directory and trust that it will be found of value to those who make use of it.
The price of this directory is based on the cost of production, which was lessened considerably through the support of business, industrial and professional firms whose names appear in the Classified Section. May we urge that you support these firms, who have shown their faith in the town, by subscribing to this edition?
